Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and a Person’s Attempt to Free Himself From Alcohol

James was a welder who started hanging around with the wrong crowd after work.  It started as going to happy hour every day after work and then escalated into drinking at a bar every night and every weekend.  Sure he was having fun, but he could sense that he was losing control over a lot of important things in his life.  On his birthday, he made up his mind to quit drinking.  He made it four hours before experiencing very discomforting alcohol withdrawal symptoms.  Still determined to quit drinking, he made an appointment with a counselor that was from the employees assistance program at work.  He knew that he would need alcohol treatment but this was all right if it meant that he could finally free himself from alcohol.
