Treating Heart Disease with Resveratrol
Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant, and is therefore effective in the treatment of some forms of heart disease, particularly in patients with high blood cholesterol levels. Free radicals are small oxygenated molecules formed during the normal biochemical functions of your body, and also generated by exposure to pesticides, tobacco smoke, traffic fumes and the ultraviolet portion of strong sunlight. They oxidize LDL cholesterol in the blood and cause them to deposit fatty plaques on the internal surface of your arteries.
These plaques progressively reduce the internal diameter of your arteries so that they become increasingly narrower and prone to blockage by clots. When this occurs you can suffer heart attacks or strokes depending whether the arteries are coronary or in your brain. This condition is known as atherosclerosis, and can be treated by using antioxidants to destroy the free radicals that initiate the condition. Since resveratrol is a strong antioxidant, it can be used to prevent this form of heart disease and extend the life of anybody suffering atherosclerosis or high LDL cholesterol levels.
Slow the progression of cholesterol buildup by taking natural resveratrol on a daily basis. Look for your local or internet health food store for name brands to ensure that you purchase a high quality and pure product.
