Getting aquarium lights is not merely an issue of aesthetics. Generally, fish tank lights are used to illuminate the aquarium. In some cases, however, aquarium lights play the crucial role of a life support system for the organisms inside the tank. As a hobbyist, you may already know that the different types of aquarium lights have specific uses. For instance, a different set of fish tank lights are used for freshwater aquariums and reef aquariums. Fish tank lights for freshwater aquariums can be categorized further into screw-in incandescent and compact fluorescent lights and normal output fluorescent lights. For reef aquariums, the selection of aquarium lights available is more complex. They come in light emitting diodes (LED), metal halide, T5 High Output bulbs, and very high output (or VHO) fluorescent tubes.
