Difficulties With Absolute Truth
I have been struggling with this concept of absolute truth. I am struggling with it because I can’t quite find the correct words. Having said this, I will do my best.
The concept of absolute truth has been pondered for thousands of years and across every culture in one form or another. Philosophers have attempted to corroborate it’s existence or not. So too have all of the religions across the world. So much of the discussion comes from the metaphysical realm as to make it rather “heady”.
What seems relative to me is how each individual comes to answer or address his relatedness to God. This is relative because I am uniquely me and you are uniquely you. I would not expect another’s relationship to God is the same as mine. Creation is diverse and unique.
Certainly, there is always a risk when people try to justify their beliefs and actions based on a personal God. We run the risk of trying to justify rather atrocious behavior in the name of God instead of accepting the probability, that at times, we still remain outside of God’s light.
