Global law

Without patent laws there would be no rights to inventions as others would be free to copy without harm. Patents provide the owner of the new invention the legal authority to stop others from benefiting from their ideas. One of the problems is that patent laws vary from country to country and there is no unified global patent system. There has been the Patent Cooperation Treaty, The Patent Law Treaty, and the Substantive Patent Law Treaty that have all improved up international patent but all have fallen short of creating global patent laws that have universal agreement.
